What we do
Within reason, regulation and whatever Procurement has supplied.
Cross-border enquiries
We coordinate information between jurisdictions, witnesses and operational teams where the answer cannot be obtained simply by asking the person standing nearest the luggage.
Transfer oversight
Chain-of-custody review, secondary movement assessment and documentation of objects whose importance may not be immediately apparent.
Field investigation
Technical guidance, witness handling, document examination and measured deployment of specialist equipment, subject to equipment actually working.
Discretion without unnecessary drama.
Most C.L.U.E. activity is administrative, evidential or liaison-based. The Unit is not an emergency service and does not encourage members of the public to conduct amateur surveillance, confront suspects or taste unknown exhibits.
Where participation is required, an investigator will receive written instructions and, where appropriate, stationery.
